Nina tiptoed anxiously through the street, keeping as far away from strangers as possible. She just wanted to get to the park as soon as she could. She knew that it was rarely inhabited and she wanted to feed the stray animals she visited there. She sped up a little bit and narrowly avoided bumping in to an elderly couple walking the opposite way. She bobbed her head in apology and hurried on. She regretted having taken the long way around, but she wanted to stop to buy some pet food at the little pet shop beside Cafe Starswirl. The workers at the pet shop all knew her and gave her a discount. They knew what she wanted too, so she didn't have to tell them. As little interaction as possible made her more comfortable, so she always liked to go there. She rounded a corner and saw the shop thankfully across the street. Even though she walked here every day, she was still nervous about getting lost. After all she hadn't lived in London all that long.
Nina crossed the street nervously while avoiding cars and placed her hand on the shop window with a little sigh of relief. She would never get used to all these people everywhere. She pushed the door open gently and walked into the shop. An employee noticed her and waved at her. Nina nodded shyly back and waited for the employee to come over with her usual order. He walked over with the bag of assorted pet foods and placed them on the checkout counter.
"Anything else today, or just the usual?"
Nina shook her head quickly and edged up to the counter to pay. She felt the worker give her a once over, like he did every time he saw her. She shifted her feet uncomfortably. She didn't like getting much attention, especially not that kind of attention. She held out the credit card her foster parents had given her and the employee swiped it for her and waited for her to pay. She fumbled with the machine clumsily and snatched up her bag as soon as the purchase was approved. She practically ran out of the store, clutching the paper bag to her chest tightly. She was so hurried that she didn't see the person in front of her until it was too late. She crashed into them and fell down on her butt, making the contents of her bag spill everywhere. She looked up to see that she was outside of Cafe Starswirl and blinked fearfully at the person she bumped into.
