APPEARANCE.
Nina likes to dress in light, flirty clothing. She prefers off the shoulder tops and hoodies and short skirts. She usually wears long stripey socks and a garter belt. Her hair is a soft shade of lavender and her eyes are a mixture of aqua and violet. She is most often seen chewing nervously on a toothpick or pocky. She has a necklace strung around her neck with an engraving on it that could only be read by someone standing extremely close to her, closer than she ever lets anyone get. She refuses to ever take off her necklace and wont say a word about where it came from or how she got it. Her shoes are worn from running, but she takes good care of them so they look only lightly used. Nina is constantly blushing, often for seemingly no reason. She has lines of scars on her wrists ankles and thighs, covered by her wardrobe, and heavy scarring on her back. When it is raining she can often be seen rubbing her wrists, where her scars are the deepest, and wincing.
PERSONALITY.
Nina is very shy and nervous. She never seeks out other people, and if someone she knows tries to talk to her, she just nods along with whatever they say until she can find a way to escape. On her good days she is better with strangers than people she knows, she sometimes even talks to them, but the longer they know her the more anxious and withdrawn she gets. On her bad days she avoids strangers fearfully, even going so far as to run away if they try to talk to her. She often likes to hide in trees and quiet areas, usually forests or other places near nature.
When Nina is alone and surrounded by nature, she is like a completely different person. She hums and sings and smiles, all things she never does otherwise. She feels comfortable surrounded by grass and birds and nature, like she's safe. She relaxes in nature in a way she can never seem to any other place. She even laughs and sometimes, she manages to fall asleep in a patch of sunlight on a soft stretch of grass. She loves to find stay animals like cats and dogs and brings them to these places. She brings them food every day that she can and plays with them until she has to go home.

When Nina was born she was a beautiful baby, some who know her story may say that she was too beautiful. Her father adored her, and being an only child she was often very spoiled. For years the little family of three lived comfortably in their cozy home. Nina's father would go to work each day and come home with a paycheck and a sore back. Her mother would stay home all day and watch Nina and cook and clean. Nina was always happy to play quietly all day and cuddle with her father when he got home from work. The same quaint story read over and over until one day when Nina was nine and the family's blissful peace ended.
Nina's father came home from work more furious than she had ever seen him. She rushed to hug him, as she always did when he came home, only to be knocked aside with an angry sweep of his arm. Nina sprawled on the floor in a daze. Her father had never laid an unkind hand on her before, so she took it for an accident and pulled herself to her feet. She heard crashing sounds from the kitchen and made her way towards the ruckus. Her mother and father were yelling and pots and pans were flying. She ran to her dad and tugged his arm, begging him to stop, only to be slapped aside again. With her ears ringing she didn't hear what her mother screamed at her father. Only later would she find out that her father had been fired and that her mother had told him not to take it out on her, but their daughter.
Nina was lifted by strong hands and carried into her parent's bedroom. She recognized the firmness of the bed she had slept on when there were monsters hiding in her closet and sounds coming from under her bed. Her father pulled her clothes off harshly, his hands far from being gentle as Nina had always thought they were. He didn't slow down or stop no matter how much she cried. It was fast and unforgiving, the first of many such experiences. She lay in the bed limply after, wishing to be anywhere but where she was. As Her father returned home every day, no paycheck in hand and the smell of booze on his breath, he dragged her to his room. She prayed every day for god to help her, but if he heard, he never cared enough to help.
Her mother grew jealous of the attention her husband was giving their daughter, and eventually she laid hands on her daughter as well, although not in the same way. The beatings were often hours long, only stopping when Nina's mother tired. Nina had learned soon enough that it was worse when she made noise, so she taught herself to be quiet. There were times she wanted to escape it all, a few missing shaving razors were hardly a concern to her parents. It only took her a few attempts before she almost succeeded, at 13 years old. Her mother barely found her in time, and by the time the ambulance arrived Nina was almost gone. She survived just barely, but she had scars that would last forever, physical and emotional. Upon examining her, the doctors were appalled at the scarring and clear signs of abuse on such a young child. Nina was taken from her parents, and when she was discharged from the hospital she entered the foster care system.
Nina was shuffled around from foster home to foster home for five years. She was always fast to go to a new home, people were usually drawn by her pretty face. She experienced many different homes, some worse and some slightly better than her own home. She never made it through a home unscathed. No family kept her longer than a year. They all claimed she wasn't right for their homes, and Nina never had the courage to tell the foster care workers her side of the story. So she was tossed back and forth between abusive homes, wishing she had succeeded when she was 13.
At 18 she was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Dagobert, who had two sons, one 16 and the other 21. The couple took pity on a girl still in the foster care system at such an age, they hoped that she would get along with their boys, the three of them being close in age. Nina didn't talk for the first four months after coming to her new home. She flinched every time Clemens or one of his sons came too close, and went into hiding any time Seffi started cooking. Eventually the family managed to coax Nina into talking and slowly she got a bit more comfortable around them. She never fully relaxed, even after a year and even now she still startles easily and is nervous around her foster family. The day before Nina finally spoke she disappeared. She was gone the whole day and even with the police out searching for her, she didn't turn up until the next morning. As much as her foster family and the police questioned her, she refused to tell them where she was. Her clothes were clean and in tact, the only thing different was the pendant hanging around her neck that she refused to let anyone read or take off. Once she started speaking, her family taught her to speak english with very little accent, telling her it would be useful if they traveled to England in the future.

RP SAMPLE.
Nina watched the sun rise with a new light in her eyes. For nine years up until yesterday, her world had been painted with a dreary pallet of blacks and grays. Now she could see the beautiful colors of the sunrise and tears blurred her vision. How had she managed to live without this? She promised herself that from that moment on, she would do her best to become more like she was long ago, when she was still so innocent to the world. Maybe her new family was different, maybe they didn't want to hurt her. She made her way slowly down the winding path she knew would lead her back to the Dagobert's house- no, her house. Her Home. She reached her hand up and grasped the gold pendant that hung around her neck, an unfamiliar weight in it's newness. She traced the engraved words gently with her finger tips, brushing gently against the hidden initials on the back. Today she would start living, their sake and her own.
