APPEARANCE.
Elspeth has long, blonde hair with the last inch or so fade to a light pink color, which some people don't seem to notice unless the light catches it just right. Elspeth wears a variety of different outfits, from her private school uniform with red tie, stockings, and flats, to her formal wear of a red party dress, black tights, and red heels, to her everyday casual of shorts, leggings, blouse, jacket, scarf and trainers. Any outfit she's in though, she will always wear her favorite red ribbon from her Uncle Alex, whether her hair is completely up at a party, partially up at school, or down for casual wear.
PERSONALITY.
Elspeth is an only child, and as such, she was slightly spoiled growing up. Her parents would give her whatever lessons she wanted to take, on the condition that once started, she couldn't quit halfway through if things didn't go her way or she got tired of it. This has helped to teach Elspeth the importance of finishing what you start. She is also very compassionate, as she demonstrated when she brought a stray cat home and nursed it back to health. She was determined to do everything she could on her own, and when she wasn't sure what to do, she would go to the library to find out what to do next. Her parents were very proud of her, and didn't try to assist her unless she asked. After a week, Elspeth had the cat much healthier than before but she still took it to the local vet to make sure it would be okay. The vet was surprised at the determination of this small lady and how much care she showed towards an animal others had just overlooked. Elspeth was told that with good meals and rest, the cat would recover, and it did. Elspeth still has him and still takes the same care with him.
Elspeth has what in a certain culture is called a tsundere (hot and cold) personality towards the opposite sex. If she's embarrassed, she'll be slightly cold or make fun of them. But when they get to know her, she'll start showing the cute, shy side of herself. This has never happened with other girls or relatives, just guys that go to school or that she meets. This doesn't mean that she is like this to every male she meets, just to males she becomes friends with.
HISTORY.
hometown; London, England
family members;
Earl George Croft [Father]
Lady Amelia Croft [Mother]
Lord Alex Croft [Paternal Uncle, missing]
Elspeth grew up as an only child in a small manor in London Town, raised by her parents and uncle. Her parents were busy people with various tenets to oversee, but they always made time for and made sure she knew how important she was to them. Most days when she was young, after her lessons, she could be found on her uncle's lap as he told her stories about creatures his father had told him about, creatures that seemed to come out of the computer and turn into even bigger creatures. She would listen with wide eyes, always eager for more stories of the computer creatures. Her uncle would chuckle and ruffle her hair, saying they were just stories to keep little ones in bed at night and to keep them behaving. Elspeth was disappointed but it didn't stop her asking for stories, to which her uncle always indulged her in. Of course, Elspeth would look up the stories on her own, in the books her uncle had written about them.
When she turned 11, she came home from lessons to find her father and uncle talking together. Her father had a resigned look on her face, her uncle, a determined one. "El will be very upset to see you leave." She heard her father say. "It's not like I'll be gone forever. Just a few years, to go see what these researchers had found in America. I'll be back before she knows it." Her uncle said then seemed to notice her standing there, tears welling in her eyes. "You're going away Uncle Alex?" She asked. He walked over and knelt down beside her. "Only for a bit love. You remember those stories I told you, about the creatures in the computers?" When she nodded, he continued. "Well, it seems like there's been a recent discovery of them in America, so I thought I should go check it out. Then, when I come home, I'll have more stories to tell you. That doesn't seem so bad does it? Will you be a good girl and wait for me to come home then, with new stories?" He said with a smile. Elspeth nodded, putting on her brave face. "That's a good girl. Ah, before i forget, I got you a birthday present." He took out a small box and presented it to her. When she opened it, it contained a long, red ribbon. She took it out and looked up at him. He chuckled and said, "Your hair is getting so long, I thought you might want to put it up." She then smiled big and did up her hair right then, a bit messily, but by herself. "There, now i can see your face." He teased her. He then stood up. "Well, I better go catch my train. I'll be back by your next birthday, El, with plenty of new stories." He grinned and headed out after talking to her father once again. That was the last time Elspeth saw her uncle.
In the next 6 months, there was no correspondence from her uncle. It wasn't until a year later that they learned he had never made it to his destination. When he had reached America, he had been on his way to meet his colleagues but had never arrived. When the local police had canvased the area, witnesses said they had seen a man fitting her uncle's description but as they followed the route he took, the trail ran cold. He had just disappeared. Elspeth was heartbroken. She wears the ribbon as a reminder of her uncle and has stopped looking into the stories of the computer monsters. That is, until now, 6 years later, when people started just disappearing and then when some reappeared, they told stories.....stories like her uncle had told her....

"Elspeth Amelia Croft, how many times have I told you not to go to the crime scenes of the disappearing victims?! This is the fifth time a policemen's had to escort you home from there." Elspeth's mother, Lady Croft, said in exasperation. Elspeth didn't look up as she reviewed the notes she had gathered from the scene. "Elspeth!" Her mother said. With a start, she looked up. "Oh Mother. I didn't see you there. Is something wrong?" Her mother sighed and just shook her head. "El, dear, I'm asking you to stop visiting the crime scenes. It's dangerous. I don't know what I would do if you disappeared too...." She said, getting misty-eyed. El put down her notebook and stood to hug her mother. "You won't lose me Mother. But I can't stop. I feel like these disappearances are linked to Uncle Alex's somehow." She said, looking back at her notebook. Her mother was quiet, knowing how much these meant to her daughter. "Alright....but at least stay around London this time. No more trips to Manchester without at least me or your father. Agreed?" Her mother said in all seriousness. Elspeth nodded. Her mother smiled, relieved. "I'm glad. Now, let's have tea, shall we?"
